Castleview Mills, Clonakilty – Thursday 11^th July at 7 pm.

Built in the early 1800s, Castleview Mills is one of the last working water mills in Ireland and during the Land Wars, in 1880, it was the scene of an infamous eviction. This tour of the site will be conducted by the current owner, Joe O’Leary, who is the eighth generation of his family to own and operate the mill.

The mill is currently undergoing conservation work so only 10 attendees are allowed on the tour. However, an extra date can be arranged if the demand is there. Joe asks people to bring a head or light torch with them for the internal part of the tour. He also asks people to turn off and not use their mobile phones while he is conducting the tour. He is happy for people to take all the photos they want afterwards, but he does not want them to be distracted during the tour.

There is a  charge a €10 per person and that fee goes directly to the restoration works. As numbers are limited, prebooking is required, please let our PRO, Niall O’Mahony, know by email to proskibbhs@gmail.com as soon as possible.
